Guests with Disabilities – Drop Off
If you would like to drop off guests with disabilities on campus, please enter campus through Gate #2, located on Figueroa Street, and drop off in front of the Widney Alumni House. Vehicles must be traveling southbound on Figueroa Street to enter campus at this location. Vehicles will then be directed to park at PS1 on the corner of Figueroa Street and Exposition Boulevard (enter the structure off of Flower Street).
There are a limited number of wheelchairs available for checkout, free of charge in front of the Alumni House for those in need of this service. Checkout begins at 6:00 a.m., and all wheelchairs must be returned by 5:00 p.m. Please keep this time in mind if you are planning on attending the afternoon and evening ceremonies for the Marshall School of Business, the Rossier School of Education, the Gould School of Law, or the School of Social Work.
If you require disability services for a satellite ceremony, please contact the school coordinator for your student’s ceremony to make the appropriate arrangements.
At the main ceremony, there is a seating section reserved for guests with wheelchairs. Because space is limited, we can only allow one escort per disabled guest. This area, like all commencement guest seating, is first come, first served.
For our guests with disabilities, we offer a shuttle service stopping at selected tram stops on campus. Because of the difficulties in navigating vehicles around 40,000 people on campus, it can be difficult to guarantee that a tram will make a given stop at a given time; the trams will instead make a loose, untimed, repeated round of all stops. It is recommended that you bring or check out a wheelchair if you have a member of your party that may have difficulty walking.
Unfortunately, due to liability restrictions, students or staff driving electric carts on campus are not allowed to offer rides to any university guests.
