From the President
Dear USC Parent:
On behalf of the University of Southern California, I would like to invite you and your family to attend our 131st Commencement, to be held on the morning of Friday, May 16, 2014, and to the events preceding it on Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15. This is the most joyful and momentous occasion of the academic year, and one that will have special meaning as you watch your son or daughter receive a well-earned degree.
On May 16 your student will take his or her place in a long procession of Trojans, stretching back through the years to USC’s first commencement in 1884 – and indeed, back to the day in 1880 when USC first opened its doors. As such, commencement serves as not only a tribute to the enduring vibrancy of the Trojan Family, but also as a powerful symbol of our lifelong and worldwide connections as Trojans.
This website provides full details about the exciting events planned for May 14 through May 16. These details, and any updates as the ceremony nears, can also be heard on the commencement telephone hotline, (213) 740-4001. The main ceremony will also be broadcast live on the Internet, accessible worldwide through this website.
Approximately 40,000 parents, family, and friends attend the commencement ceremony each year, so I urge you to arrive on campus by 7:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
I am proud of the achievements of the Class of 2014, and I look forward to sharing this important and memorable time with you and your family.
