What To Expect On Your Graduation Day

Congratulations, Class of 2020 and Class of 2021!

Now that you have completed your registration for the in-person Commencement Ceremony don’t forget to print your Grad Pass from your Marching Order account–this is your ticket into your ceremony. If you registered your invited guests, don’t forget to send them their tickets–you can email tickets to your guests through your Marching Order account.

Below please find important details to help you prepare for Commencement at the LA Memorial Coliseum, May 14-May 20, 2021.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

  • Attendees may only enter with a bag that adheres to the LA Memorial Coliseum clear bag policy.  There are no bag storage facilities available. Cameras are permitted. Balloons, confetti, and noise-making devices will not be permitted.
  • There is limited shade at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Parasols will be permitted for personal shade. Sunscreen, hats, and protective sun wear are recommended. Please be aware of weather conditions and plan accordingly.
  • Complimentary individual waters will be offered and only factory-sealed water will be permitted inside. Coliseum concessions will not be available. Alcohol is prohibited.
  • Per State of California and LA County guidelines, gathering with other households in Exposition Park before or after ceremonies is prohibited.  Following the ceremony, all graduates and guests will be instructed to depart. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
  • For ADA accessible accommodations, please email lamcinfo@usc.edu.
  • Help desks will be located outside of Gates 4, 8, 19, 23. First Aid Stations can be found at Gate 1 and 16.
  • Traffic advisory: Please avoid exiting the 110 at Exposition Blvd. The intersection is highly congested due to the vaccination clinic located on the corner of Exposition Blvd. and Flower St. and may result in significant delays. Guests should use alternative routes by accessing parking via Vermont Blvd., Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., or the 110 Express Lane (Toll) exit at 39th St.
  • Please take time to review and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum website for the most comprehensive information to help you prepare for the day.

PARKING:

  • Parking at the Coliseum is complimentary for graduates and their guests. Please show your Grad Pass or guest ticket to a parking attendant to access parking. Grads will proceed to the tunnel entrance and guests will proceed to the entry gate specified on their guest ticket.
  • Available parking lots are as follows:
    • Blue structure for Gate 19 and Gate 23
      550 Exposition Park Dr., Los Angeles, CA, 90037
      (Enter from S. Figueroa St. and Exposition Park Dr./39th St.)
    • Yellow, Green, or Pink Lots for Gate 4 and Gate 8
      800 S. Park Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90037
      (Enter from W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and South Hoover St.)

GRADUATE ENTRY:

  • All graduates will enter at the Coliseum field tunnel located at 3960 Bill Robertson Lane. This entrance is strictly for graduates. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of your ceremony.
  • Regalia is required in order to participate in the ceremony. Visit uscbookstore.com for cap and gown rental information. Following the ceremony, you may return your rented regalia (gown) at the return bins around the Coliseum or at the USC Bookstore. The cap and tassel are yours to keep.
  • Graduates must present a valid Grad Pass in order to enter the ceremony. You may access your Grad Pass and email tickets to your registered guests by logging into your Marching Order account. You will need to present your Grad Pass again as you prepare to walk across the stage and hear your name read.
  • For the health and safety of everyone in attendance, all graduates, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to complete the Trojan Check wellness assessment requirements on the day of your ceremony and show your Trojan Check day pass prior to entering your ceremony at the LA Memorial Coliseum. View the instructions and videos for using Trojan Check.
    • 2021 Graduates who are fully-vaccinated need to:
      Upload your vaccination records to your MySHR, you will then only need to complete the wellness assessment questionnaire in order to access your Trojan Check day pass. No test will be required.
    • 2021 Graduates who are not vaccinated need to:
      • Complete or schedule a COVID-19 PCR test at a USC Pop Testing location prior to, or following, your ceremony and complete the wellness assessment in order to access your Trojan Check day pass.
      • Alternatively, you may test at another location and upload your results to MySHR.
    • 2020 Graduates:
      You no longer have access to your MySHR, therefore both vaccinated and non-vaccinated 2020 graduates, will access Trojan Check by clicking “Continue as a Guest” to complete the wellness assessment and access your Trojan Check day pass on your ceremony day. You will not be uploading any documentation.

      • Non-vaccinated 2020 grads are encouraged to test prior to attending and can walk-up to any USC campus Pop Testing site to test.
  • Graduates will enter through metal detector screening. Please have large metal items and cell phones in a clear bag or out of your pockets before entering. Please note, anything you bring with you will need to be carried across the stage while receiving your diploma cover and having your picture taken.
  • Once you enter the Coliseum, the event staff will direct you to your seat on the field.
  • When the time comes, your row will be directed by event staff to the north or south side of the field to process across one of four student stages. Once lined up, you will pick up your diploma cover, and please have your Grad Pass ready to be scanned. You will not be returning to your seat so please bring all of your belongings with you. 

GUEST ENTRY:

  • Each guest must present a valid guest ticket in order to enter the ceremony. If you have not yet received your electronic guest ticket, please ask your graduate to send it to you. Guest tickets may only be scanned once. After a guest ticket is scanned in, the barcode becomes invalid.
  • Gates open 1 hour prior to the ceremony start. Guests will enter via the gate designated on their guest ticket. In order to be seated together, guests MUST enter the Coliseum together.
  • Out of State Guests:
    • The current California State guidelines for in-person commencement events are specific that guests from outside of California, regardless of age, may only attend if they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In order to comply with these guidelines, out of state guests, regardless of age, will be required to present proof of vaccination (photo ID and vaccine card from your healthcare provider (either as a photo or document including the name of the person vaccinated, type of vaccination and date the last dose was administered), on-site prior to entering the LA Memorial Coliseum.
  • At each entry gate, there will be signage designating the appropriate lane for out-of-state guests to check in and present proof of vaccination. If one member of the guest pair is out of state, both will check-in via the designated out-of-state lane. This will ensure you are seated together.
  • All guests will enter through metal detector screening.  Please have large metal items and cell phones in a clear bag or out of your pockets before entering.

HEALTH & SAFETY ATTESTATION:

I agree and attest that I have reviewed USC’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols, that I will share this information with any guests, and that I and my guests agree to abide by the USC’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

  1. I will not enter USC’s campus and/or facilities if I have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 10 days, have had close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 within the past 14 days, have been directed by a health care provider, or public health officer to isolate or quarantine, or am experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, including chills, fever of 100 degrees or higher, loss of taste or smell, muscle soreness, headaches, fatigue, cough, runny nose, sore throat, congestion, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, conjunctivitis, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting.
  2. I will wear an appropriate face covering that fully covers the mouth and nose at all times on USC premises, except while actively eating or drinking.
  3. I will maintain appropriate physical distance (at least six feet) between myself and all others not in my audience group.
  4. I will agree to notify USC immediately if I test positive for COVID-19 in the 48 hours after attending the event by calling the USC COVID hotline at 213-740-6291 or emailing covid19@usc.edu.

2021 graduates who are not vaccinated may schedule testing through MySHR

2020 graduates who are not vaccinated, are encouraged to walk up during Pop testing hours (please have your USC ID number if possible, and any form of ID)
