To help ensure a safe and efficient experience, USC’s Clear Bag Policy limits the types and sizes of bags allowed on campus during Commencement-related activities. This policy is similar to the one used at USC Athletics events.
Permitted items include:
- One clear bag made of plastic, vinyl, or PVC, not exceeding 12” x 6” x 12”, or a one-gallon clear plastic storage bag (e.g., Ziploc).
- One small clutch bag or purse, approximately hand-sizzed, with or without a handle or strap
- Medically necessary items, which may be permitted after proper inspection.
Prohibited bags include (but are not limited to):
- Purses larger than a clutch
- Coolers
- Briefcases
- Backpacks
- Fanny pack
- Cinch bags
- Luggage
- Oversized seat cushions with pockets or metal structures
- Computer bags and camera bags
Please note: These measures prioritize public safety and help speed up the screening process. All permitted bags are subject to inspection at entry points, and guests are encouraged to keep items visible for quicker processing.
The policy applies to the type and size of bags, not to personal essentials like keys, makeup, phones, or wallets, which you are welcome to carry in your pockets.
